A very useful evergreen tree with bright blue button-like foliage. A great plant for the back of a mixed-planted border or planted next to a fence. Eucalyptus provides a vibrant backdrop for other plants to shine out against. Hardier and bushier than the species and is an aromatic, evergreen small tree with silvery-grey bark peeling to reveal cream, olive green, or pinkish-brown patches. Lance-shaped mature foliage is greyish blue-green; rounded juvenile foliage is silvery. Small, white, fragrant, fluffy flowers appear on mature plants from mid-summer into autumn, followed by woody, rounded, olive-green fruit
Unlike many of its vigorous cousins, this compact Cider Gum has a naturally compact and bushy growth habit. The blue-grey foliage is curiously rounded and reflects the light with its silvery hues, adding evergreen colour and interest to mixed borders. It associates beautifully silver-leaved shrubs and soft pastel yellow flowering perennials and is prized by florists for adding to flower arrangements. Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’ is exceptionally hardy, coping with temperatures as low as -20C (-4F). This outstanding variety is perfect for a small suburban garden.
